Brief 1 - Shake 'N' Vac - Further Development

After coming together as a creative team it was decided to revisit Glade as a brand so we could get the aesthetic and appearance of our adverts spot on, whilst also relating them to the intended target audience successfully.

When looking at Glade's instagram and advertisements, it was made apparent then when revisiting this that the colours and lighting they used are very fresh, therefore we decided to re visit the editing of the photographs, to make a lot lighter and give them a much fresher, clean and modern appeal.

As well as changing the style of the photographs, the Creative advertising member of the team decided on a final insight which seemed to work a lot more effectively and tied in with the design and photographs much more successfully. The idea was changed to 'The floor is lava?', 'Neutralise your carpets', playing on the idea of adults playing big kids games but for the wrong reasons, but the fact they can still have fun especially when their carpets are clean, still in keeping with the adulting theme.

Below shows the photographs after we edited them for the second time, giving them a much whiter and brighter feel and less warm. This would help to communicate the idea itself across, as well as Glade's brand aesthetic and personality and on top of that made the adverts more appropriate for a modern, contemporary audience of young adults.

Below shows experiments with typography, this time keeping the typeface white to be in keeping with the fresh and modern style. Below shows the use of sans serif typefaces, however this still didn't seem to connect with the intended audience, it seemed too serious for communicating the idea across.

The introduction of a more handwritten style typeface alongside a sans serif worked a lot better, not only did it create contrast within the design, it made it more appropriate for the target audience and took a more fun approach to the design to match the design idea and advertising approach. Developments were made with the layout and placement of the typeface and text. The most successful layouts from feedback were the ones which placed texts on both sides of the magazine spread, as it meant that both sides were related to one another and made the spread work a lot better and more cohesively as a whole.

The final design and layout for the double page spread is shown below, using the typefaces Sontoloyo and Helvetica Light, showing both the fun and serious side of the both Glade and the product of Shake n Vac itself.

The typefaces were then applied to the Ad shel design, experimentations with different layouts. The white space within the photograph was definitely utilised and therefore the type and text was placed in the most legible place.

Experimentations with the instagram campaign, using the same typefaces and photograph but cropped in a different style and dimensions. Next steps were develop the three campaign materials further, now that the typefaces had been selected.
