Brief 7 - Summer Ball Poster - Initial Ideas

Developments are shown below using lines and shapes, creating the look of confetti and bringing initial ideas together. Experimenting with different colours for backgrounds, as well as shapes. Beginning to incorporate type and different layouts, however the designs looked too simple and didn’t have enough contrast between colours and type to draw the audience in.

As well as developing the previous ideas further, using a wider range of colours, displaying the text in different layouts and strokes. The most successful designs use multiple, contrasting colours, as well as bigger, bolder, abstract shapes, as the smaller lines and shapes get lost within the text and make the design harder to understand and read, especially from a distance.

Below shows another initial idea and the early, initial designs which were then developed into the final outcome. Using coloured, abstract shapes creating the outline and form of an ice lolly made for a successfully eye catching, carefree and playful approach to both the design and event.
