Brief 7 - Summer Ball Poster - Development

Developing the initial idea of the ice lolly made of abstract shapes, looking at different colour layouts and schemes. Also beginning to look at the use of negative space, as well as the addition of type seeing how it fits in and works within the design.

The shape and imagery itself was refined and developed to achieve the correct shapes and symmetry to create a balanced design, creating enough room with the colours and shapes to add type.

The more vibrant, bolder, more playful colours worked a lot better than the more unsaturated tones.

Experimentations with adding further shapes and decoration to the outside of the imagery, adding another element and adding depth to the design, rather than purely flat colours and shapes. The most successful design was using repetition of lines, to represent sprinkles which also sits alongside the theme of summer and ice lollies.
