Penguin Book - Further Developments

The images above show the development of the book cover, showing the different sizes, colours and typefaces chosen. The colour orange was too close to the brown of the wood and didn't seem to make the book stand out if it were on a shelf. Whereas the blue stands out, it also represents night time when the pigs would make decisions and change things to deceive the other animals. The colour blue has also been taken from both the Russian flag and also older Russian propaganda posters to step away from using the colour red which has been overdone and overused.

The typeface has been chosen to be serif as this fits with the theme, style and time of the book, it also contrasts against the contemporary take on the artwork of the book. The colour white makes it stand out against the background, the white also comes from the Russian flag. Sans serif has been used on the back, so there is contrast between the two typefaces and brings the book and reminds the reader that it is in the 21st century.
