A hip hop zine, inspired publication, which is accessible to a plethora of people from different backgrounds. Using type and imagery to communicate the artists, ideals and awareness of underground hip hop music.
After researching into zines and also the history and meaning of underground hip hop, looking at the target audience. The new concept for the publication is to keep the same dimensions from the synthesiser to link the publication back to the roots of hip hop. However the design will then take a form of the zine using the photographs and text and how these can interact with each other to communicate information about the artists in a more interesting way.
The independent artists which are shown in the publication are all underground artists who have a voice, both a political and social voice and they are voicing these views through their song. They are all also very hands on and have got to where they are themselves, which mirrors the format and way in which a zine is produced. It's a very hands on, DIY approach which is what the artists represent.
It also means it can be cheaply produced and easily distributed so the message of the artists can get across everywhere. Similarly to how the artists get out there to their fans is similar to how the zine can be produced and distributed also.
