Feedback 02

Having feedback from design development 3 stated that the zine idea works well, also the black and white colour scheme and type choices are also working well within the design to communicate the idea and the idea of low production costs relating to underground hip hip was understood.

Constructive criticism and development of the design further consisted of firstly the dimensions of the book, it would be better communicated if the dimensions stick to the original size of the synthesiser relating back to the original idea as this is a strong concept.  However reducing the ratios to fit on an A4 paper therefore it still communicates to the audience the idea of cheap, but thoughtful production considerations.

Another criticism of the design was to communicate the idea of a strong use of type which communicates the voice of the artists and the importance of their song lyrics, be that political or socially within the audience. The idea of removing the images completely was suggested, to strengthen that concept further and just use type to communicate to the audience throughout the publication. Stripping the publication down to the importance and the message which is trying to be conveyed through the design. However another suggestion was if this idea was carried through to the design, there was a criticism that the audience wouldn't know what the publication was about and in that case their needs to be other production considerations to convey the content of the design.

On the other hand the context in which the publication would be received and bought would be by an audience that already have knowledge in underground hip hop and general hip hop and therefore would understand the context and content of the publication already. Therefore the text may be enough to communicate the content to the audience. However this will be experimented with in further developments of the design to see if the design can exist with just type or if the images are needed to further imply the content of the publication.
