Studio Brief 03 - Poster Ideas - Flat Colour and Gradient

A decision had it be made whether to use flat colour of CMYK or the gradient of CMYK, as the colour of the circles. In the crit, feedback came back;

- The gradient idea was preferred, as it looked more interesting and created a more unique identity.

- The gradient idea fitted with the theme of traditional print much better, as the flat colour looked too digital.

- The collateral should have at least an element of traditional print, either letterpress or screen print, rather than printing everything digitally. 

- The gradient design could actually be screen printed a lot easier, as when placed on a white paper stock, there only needed to be two layers, of colour and then black.

A compromise was made within the group, to use the gradient with white background on all printed media, which would be screen printed, using analogue techniques. then across all social media, and digital prints, a black background would be used. This created a contrast and showed the difference between analogue and digital design, which was one of he main themes of the exhibition.
