Brief 9 - Artisan Drinks - Initial Ideas

One idea was to use the research into tonic water and how it glows and lights up when placed under UV light due to the ingredients within it. Within this idea we looked at neon lighting for both photography, imagery and typefaces. As well as looking at existing imagery and contemporary styles and ways of using UV light.

This idea would work well as it's different from other adverts for similar products and also fits alongside Artisan's contemporary, vibrant and colourful brand personality.

One aspect which may not make this a successful idea is the darker colours, as darker backgrounds are used across most competitor's advertising, therefore we wanted to approach the brief with a lighter, more colourful and modern take.

Another idea was looking at Artisan's 'pioneering' role in the tonic industry, therefore we began to look at exisiting real life pioneers and we could incorporate this into an advertising campaign. Creating more modern takes on old fashioned pioneers and photographs, the coming together of Artisan's pioneering and history with their contemporary and vibrant personality of humour and colour. Using photographs of the likes of Martin Luther King, Amelia Earhart and Coco Chanel.

The main issues with this idea would be copyright issues and also getting a wide range and diversity of pioneers, of different genders as well as from a range of other backgrounds and ethnicities.

Another idea was to focus on the characters and artwork already placed on the bottles, as these are important aspect to the drinks themselves and also to Artisan's branding as a whole. therefore we were looking at bringing the characters to life using appropriate models and accessories and outfits.

An idea focusing on photography, context and audience looked at adverts exisiting in bars within metropolitan areas. Having photoshoot with models or drinks in a range of different settings.

Another idea which focused on the drinks as people and the characters on them, was a mix and match idea and seeing the characters as the drinks having different personalities. Which also plays on the idea of why blend in when you can stand out, all about people's different personalities and what makes them who they are.
