Brief 2 - Photographer Branding - Evaluation

The final printed outcomes, when photographed by the client shows how they all work together as a cohesive brand style and how each of the elements, of the logo, colour and typography have been applied to a range of contexts formats successfully. Photographed a white background also shows how the colours stand out and contrast against each other to make for a memorable and engaging design which means the client and her work would be hard to forget.

The designs are successful in terms of meeting the brief and the needs of the client, they communicate the client’s fun, approachable and engaging personality alongside her minimal, professional and tactile nature of the client’s photographs, work and approach to her practice. The designs are very versatile and can be applied to further collateral and promotional material in the future, such as a website, portfolio, CVs and cover letters.

In terms of improvements to the designs, printing was one of the only issues. In the future, or in terms of extra time or money, it would have been better to get the designs professionally printed, especially the business cards. The laser style printer, meant that some of the designs happened to be not as successful as other printers, this is important when printing block colours. Another improvement or further exploration would be to look at designing the client’s website and applying the branding to other social media if this was needed and if the required skills were developed.

In terms of creating work for a client, within this brief it worked well and ran smoothly. The client always gave positive and constructive feedback and was always available, as well as having an understanding of the designer’s capabilities and a thought out brief.

In conclusion the designs reached the client’s expectations and more, they were happy with the whole range of printed outcomes. The colours and imagery communicate both the client’s personality and practice and successfully create promotional collateral to be sent out to industry professionals and clients whilst remaining professional and individual to the client.

Brief 2 - Photographer Branding - Client's Use of Brand

Below shows the examples that the Client has sent to me of how she has used the brand and logo across other collateral such as her CV and cover letter, as well as her website. It shows that the design can be used and is versatile in different contexts.

Brief

To create a brand style and design a range of printed promotional material for a graduating Photography student, interested in applying for Jobs, Internships and Careers in both the photography and creative industry.

Background/ Considerations

The client’s photography style is very much focused on food and lifestyle photography and would describe her work as classy, versatile and minimal. The client would also like her personality as well as her work to be represented through the design, therefore it needs to communicate a positive, approachable and friendly design.

The client takes inspiration from Cereal Magazine, Scandinavian Design influences, Pinterest and Instagram. Her work has a focus on colour, texture and distortion and this therefore needs to be communicated within the design.

Ultimately a versatile design for the branding of the client, which can easily be used across a range of media and printed material, both online and physically.
