Initial ideas consisted of typographic experimentation; using quotes from the story of ‘Moby Dick’, then collaging these words in a way that conveyed the themes of the play, such as water, exploring origami of whales and boats. Then placing these over photographs of the canal found in Leeds Dock, which actually curated the background for the final design , a marble, water, coloured effect. It was said that the quotes were too obvious and overused, however the background was favoured, as it gave an insight into the venue of the play, whilst also embodying the contemporary approach of the theatre group.
