Primary colours were experimented with, as these are the most used colours within the market of children’s books. Blue, although it was a preferred colour, it is the same colour as one of the existing covers already, therefore a more innovative colour needed to be chosen. Red also didn’t work, as it takes the attention away from he red sock on the spine, which is a main focal point. People also commented that the red too harsh, green was the final option, as it was quite refreshing and didn’t conflict with anything else on the cover, however the green was also said to be too harsh and conflicts against the red. Purple was suggested as an alternative and it works extremley well and places the cover into a unique category and looks much more contemporary, rather than the primary colours that are seen everywhere. It is also the colour of the paper Adrian writes on , therefore referencing the book.
