Through this module
I have been able to select and work on a range of briefs which interest me and
allowed me to explore my interests within graphic design as well as outside of
it. Around half of the briefs focused on design for children and educational
design, whilst others focused on branding and advertising.
The most successful
briefs were the Research Brief, which focused on bringing creativity into the
classroom and encouraging children to use the 5 Superpowers of creativity, this
is something I can really see actually existing in a classroom and school
context with kids enjoying and engaging with it. I would love to push this
brief even further in the future and maybe even introduce it to my own
classroom.
Another successful
brief was the Artisan Drinks Campaign, I feel as though we really got the
personality and concept correct and it represented the companies values
perfectly. The posters are bold, vibrant and the addition of the book just
expands the project even further to create a head turning campaign.
Briefs which weren’t
as successful were the Child line brief, I feel as though I could have pushed
their project further and created more detailed illustrations as this may be
more of what they were looking for. However, I was happy with how the designs
turned out, they had a strong concept behind them and also fitted with their
current aesthetic.
Another brief
which wasn’t as successful was the End of Year Show Branding, I feel as though
the management and marketing team were looking for a much bolder and daring
campaign, I feel as though our designs kept it too safe.
The collaboration and
client projects mostly ran quite smoothly, the hardest was probable Brief 1 for
Shake ‘n’ vac, as Creative Advertisers have very different ways of working and
at times it was hard to see eye to eye. The clients I worked with were very
cooperative and were ultimately very pleased with the designs I produced for
them.
Overall I feel as
though the range and variety of work I have produced allowed me to fully
explore my interests in and outside of graphic design as well as allowing me to
research and create work which will benefit my future career ambitions.
